• PassBook is a simple utility that helps you remember the several user ids/passwords that everyone of us use to log on different computer systems and Internet sites.

  • PassBook is very simple to use. It saves the user id/password couples, with a short description for each entry, in a single, small encrypted file. The only password you really need to remember is the password used to encrypt the PassBook file.

  • PassBook is non-intrusive with your system. To install it, just unpack the files in one folder and run the executable. There is NO installation trouble and no mess with the registry. If you want to uninstall PassBook, you have just to delete the files... well...if you enable Passbook to be run at user login be sure to disable this feature before removing the files (or Windows wll try to run the program anyway).

  • PassBook is FREEWARE. You can use it freely as long as you like. No fee. Free to try and free to keep. The usual disclaimer applies, so please note that there is no warranty about using PassBook. USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. And please, keep in mind that if you forget the password used to encrypt the file ... you're done. There's no way to recover the password from the file. You have to use brute force and try all possible passwords to open the file again.

  • PassBook has been developed for MS Windows 98 and runs on MS Windows 98/NT/2000. I didn't test it on MS Windows 95 but it should work as welI.

  • Version 1.1 (released 06/2001) adds clipboard support, system tray icon support and URL hyperlinks launching.

  • I know that the user interface can be improved a lot and that an installer/uninstaller is missing. But I spent all the free time I had on implementing and testing the program functionality. Next time I will try to give you a nicer interface.

  • I tested the program and I use it every day. Anyway, I apologize for any bug that surely left around. Any bug you could find (or feature you would like to have in the program) just drop me a line and let me know.
